A2 Pre-Intermediate

Teaching is based on a balanced approach that blends well-established language-learning principles with modern, effective methodologies. Through structured guidance and practical application, students learn to describe the world around them, express their needs clearly, and use English in meaningful, real-life contexts. The syllabus for this course is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) for A2 Pre-Intermediate level.

What is the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)?

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is a trusted international guide used by schools around the world to describe how well a student can use a language. Rather than focusing only on tests, it clearly shows what your child is able to understand, say, read, and write in English at each stage. By following CEFR levels, our courses support steady, well-structured progress, ensuring students build confidence and practical communication skills as they move forward.

Requirements

Learners need to have completed an examination that demonstrates they have satisfactorily achieved the A2 elementary level or an equivalent thereof. If no examination has been taken, then an on-site assessment will be required to determine the student’s level.

Over many years of teaching, I repeatedly saw students who could pass tests but struggled to use English in real-life situations.

They had learned rules and vocabulary by heart, yet lacked the confidence and practical skills to communicate naturally beyond the classroom. The A2 Pre-Intermediate course at Anglicus has been designed to change that. While students are supported in building the language accuracy needed for assessments, the primary focus is on learning how English is actually used — in conversations, everyday situations, and real-world contexts.

Lessons develop understanding, not memorisation, helping students express themselves clearly and with growing independence.

This is not a standard test-driven programme. It is a skills-based course shaped by real classroom experience, ensuring learners are prepared not just for exams, but are ready for the real world.”
